Presenting Celly in Seattle: Episode 3, Doug-less in Seattle! (Episode 1 and Episode 2 are also available.)
In case you missed it, Celly in Seattle is a new hockey podcast hosted by Seattle Sin Bin writers Doug Mellon, Rebeca Moloney, and Sean Clement. Our goal is to keep you updated on Seattle NHL team news and talk all things hockey with fans in Seattle while we wait for the puck to drop in 2020.
Doug couldn’t join us for this episode due to internet difficulties so we invited Seattle Sin Bin writer Dan Morse on the podcast to dish on the WHL finals. Here’s what we covered.
The three of us talked briefly about the Key Arena construction schedule and the planned NBA exhibition game at Key Arena before demolition begins.
The folks at Sonics Rising have a deep dive podcast on the Key Arena coming up soon so keep an eye out for that.

Unlike the first round, there’s no sweeps. Teams are battling it out to earn a spot in the conference finals. We talked about our favorite moments so far, controversial goaltender interference calls, and how the Washington Capitals are dealing with Tom Wilson’s three game suspension.
The Everett Silvertips will take on the Swift Current Broncos for the Ed Chynoweth cup starting May 4th (May the force be with the ‘tips). Dan Morse chatted with us about what he’s noticed about Silvertips in the playoffs, Carter Hart’s playoff performance, and the formidable match up with the Broncos going in to the WHL final.

Last Saturday, Rebecca went to a hockey skills camp for women coached by 2014 Olympic Silver medalist Lyndsey Fry. We talked about the event (coordinated with the help of the Western Washington Female Hockey Association), body checking in women’s hockey, and her Small Frys partnership with the Arizona Coyotes to grow the game for girls in Arizona.
We answered a bunch of listener questions this week, including (but not limited to):
Talk to me about icing. Even Wikipedia didn't really help me understand what it means. I just know it's bad in hockey, but delicious on— Eliza L (@TwinklyHelterS) May 1, 2018
Do we want/need Canadian food (and beer) incorporated at the new arena? Or do we keep it traditional arena food with a Seattle flair similar to what Safeco and Century Link do?— Brandon Bryan (@BrandonBryan21) May 1, 2018

Jersey Joseph Karl 8 White Mountaineers College ...Also...is it at all possible that Las Vegas's incredible success will affect Seattle's entry draft?...as in...the owners not wanting to give Seattle the same "deal" that L.V. got?— sparky (@sparkychewbarky) May 2, 2018
As always Dan, Sean, and Rebecca ended the podcast with our three stars (our favorite hockey people and/or moments) of the week.
Keep sending us questions to answer on the pod! We love talking hockey with you.
